Rehousing and organization efforts at the Archives have begun! We are creating box lists and inventories, as well as rehousing delicate and unsafe materials in their new archival safe folders and boxes. The collection we have been working with most is the Thomas Drew Photograph collection. Thomas Drew (1845-1913) was a prolific amateur photographer from Hanover and his collection of glass plate negatives at the Hanover Historical Society is one of the best accounts for daily life in Hanover at this time. A few photographs and cabinet cards are also a part of the collection, some examples below, showing just how extraordinary everyday life can be.

The archives are still looking for volunteers! We have many defined projects with instructions to guide you every step of the way, or if you have a personal interest in a specific aspect of hanover history we would love your help exploring that too! Research and organization are our main goals moving forward, so please reach out at hanoverhistoricalsociety@gmail.com. The archives are staffed on Thursday mornings 10-12, and Friday mornings 10-12 so please always feel free to stop by!

The archives are also in desperate need of supplies, please consider donating specifically to the purchase of archival supplies to preserve these incredible images, documents and books for future Hanover residents to enjoy and learn from. You can donate using the button in the header or in the drop-down menu above.
