Long before modern photography, South Hanover storekeeper Thomas Drew (1845–1913) was capturing the soul of Massachusetts’ South Shore. Operating from his home on the banks of the Indian Head River, Drew transformed his kitchen into a darkroom and used a simple burlap tarp outside as his portrait studio. Today, his incredible collection of glass-plate negatives stands as a breathtaking time capsule of local family life, friendships, and historic landmarks.
